Invisibility

By Jeremy Kern

Apologies for the large gap in posts. Here’s the update: the conclusion of 2019 was good. Played good gigs, jammed with killer musicians (Los Angeles is great for that), made and wrote more music, even reaped the fruits of my warm-body-in-a-chair office job and visited Costa Rica for 2 weeks with a homie. January was marred by brief office consternation with new boss but that too passed. In February I lost my housing because one of my craigslist roommates got drunk and outed himself as a white supremacist: so I ran. My next housing assignment, also craigslist apt, lasted like 10 days before that dude outed himself as being a fng psycho (stole 2k from me!!). Big set backs, but as the pandemic hit I secured a 3rd craigslist apt just to never move in lol. Been back home with the ‘rents (parents) since. Saving great money! Definitely very difficult though to transition home after living away for so many years but my eyes on the prize ($$$). As far as deliverables, I’m not looking to share personal content during the strife of the pandemic. This time has allowed me to grow and the music I’m making is better than ever, but internally I feel inappropriate seeking personal gains right now. This has allowed me to conceptualize a musical act that exists solely as a funnel to redistribute wealth. It’s a work in progress haha but would gladly extort my skills for a modest lifestyle and the satisfaction of dispersing wealth. In less ridiculous news, been recording woodwinds for people remotely for people all over the country; and the band I’m in for Calvin the II released a npr tinydesk audition that got some traction! (500,000+ views and shared on npr instagram story 750,000+ followers) and is in the top 100 finalists for the competition. Drove up to LA last week to record for the second video that will be even better. That’s all very exciting but it’s funny having gone to music school and hearing about how self-advocacy is the only way to get paid for music, and then getting my first 1million views on social medias playing saxophone for $40 haha. Good thing I’m not in it for the money. Thank you to the people that have been commenting on my posts! Always nice to connect and feel free to ask me things or ask of me things haha. Will follow-up today (hopefully) with a content drop on here (writings, images, music links).
